Brigham Leadership Program VIII - Sponsor Recommendation and Commitment Form

The Brigham Leadership Program (BLP) is in it's eighth cohort of the program, which began as the Physician Leadership Program in 2007. The BLP is a rigorous leadership development program designed by Brigham Health in collaboration with the Harvard Business School (HBS), and is sponsored by BWH and BWPO Departments.

The program will be delivered over 7 months and include four 2.5 day sessions (full day Wednesday-Friday) on-site at HBS and three 2-hour interim sessions (Thursday afternoons) at Brigham and Women's Hospital. In addition, participants will engage in an applied-learning project at Brigham Health. The program features diverse teaching methodologies, including seminars, case discussions, expert panels, and interactive small-group sessions. Attendance at all activities is required

Module I - October 23-25, 2019
Interim Session I - November 14, 2019 
Module II - December 4-6, 2019
Interim Session II - January 9, 2020
Module III - February 5-7, 2020
Interim Session III - March 5, 2020
Module IV - April 1-3, 2020
Graduation - May 7, 2020

*Please note that contrary to previous years, modules will run Wednesday thru Friday offsite at HBS.

This Sponsor Recommendation and Commitment Form is required to release participants from professional responsibilities during the program dates and times and to support the participants’ share of the program cost. 

Sponsor Recommendation Forms must be submitted online for each participant. Emailed submissions will not be accepted.

Target Audience: This activity is intended for all interested participants.

Learning Objectives:

Upon completion of this educational program, participants will be able to:

• Possess a deeper understanding of the fundamental management skills (finance, operations, data analysis, compliance, and marketing communications) required to
effectively lead a hospital/academic medical center department, division, program or strategic initiative.
• Develop a perspective of the inter-dependent systems and constituencies in a complex academic medical center environment.
• Describe the different styles of and situations for personal leadership, enhance self-awareness of leadership and managerial strengths and weaknesses and develop one's own capacity for effective leadership, building consensus and managing organizational transformation.
• Improve core competencies including practice-based learning, professionalism, interpersonal communication and teamwork.
• Work effectively in team environment that is critical in a health care setting
• Identify different approaches to analysis and problem solving
• Develop skills to identify unmet medical needs and capacity to formulate and implement responsive programmatic initiatives.
• Apply a comprehensive set of strategic frameworks to a project of significant value to the organizational situation. 
Develop skills to identify and address lack of diversity and inclusion in a department, division, program or strategic initiative.
