Connors-BRI Symposium - Incorporating sex as biologic variable to advance health

Call for abstracts for oral presentations in this virtual symposium

 

To promote vibrant scientific discussions, stimulate new sex and gender research and connect researchers from all Boston area institutions, faculty with a rank of assistant professor and below and all non-faculty researchers are invited to submit an abstract to share their work by giving a short, featured talk or presenting during a lightning talk session at this virtual symposium.

 

The symposium, sponsored by the Connors-BRI Center for Research on Women’s Health and Gender Biology at the BWH Brigham Research Institute, will feature a keynote address by Dr. Janine Clayton, Director of the Office for Research in Women’s Health at the National Institutes of Health.

 

Additional Information:

    • Abstracts in any area of basic, clinical, translational or epidemiological research related to sex-differences, gender biology, or women’s health are welcome
    • Abstracts that are not selected for featured talks will by default be considered for inclusion in the lightning talk session
    • Successful applicants MUST be available to present during the virtual event on May 24th
    • Preference will be given to abstracts describing early stage ideas, novel hypotheses and preliminary or current work
    • Previously presented research is acceptable for both featured talks and the lightning talk session
    • Previous research newly analyzed using sex as a biological variable is encouraged
    • Abstracts must be submitted here (hyperlink) by Monday, April 19, 2021
    • Featured and lightning talks selected for presentation will be notified by May 3, 2021
    • Written abstracts (300 words or less) along with a description (150 words or less) of how this work applies to sex difference, gender biology, or women’s health research will be judged to select featured talks
    • Lightning talk presentations should consist of 3 slides or less showing images/figures/tables with minimal text
